The Sumner Hub Enviro Network

Sumner Hub is a part of the Zero Waste Network Aotearoa. We are dedicated to providing our community opportunities to reduce their impact on the environment. We offer novel plsatics, steel and aluminium recycling and facilitate programmes locally promoting biodiversity, conservation and resilience to climate change impacts.

Sustainability and Recycling at the Hub

We are now accepting commonly used plastic products that normally go to landfill. We accept the following items:
  • -plastic bread tags
  • -#2 and #5 clean lids (no labels and silicone, no flip tops or bottle tops)- Precious Plastics Programme with Riverlution
  • -All plastic lids from yellow bin products, clean (any # plastic lids including #5 and #2)- Caps and Lids Forum
  • -Steel (magnetic bottle caps and beer tops) and Aluminum (non magnetic – wine caps) lids – raise funds for the Hub projects and the Kidney Foundation
  • -Any toothcare products emptied and cleaned- recycled with Terracycle at Riverlution
  • -Any makeup container emptied and cleaned -recycled with MECCA

The Sumner Hub is now helping 9 Schools to recycle their office supplies, made possible through a grant from the Sumner Ferrymead Foundation. Thank you to the teachers and the kids leading the Enviro groups at each participating school.
