Meet our Committee

Andrea Davis

Andrea has been a member since 2020, focusing on the environment. Andrea is also a member of the ECAN Banks Peninsula Water Zone Committee, currently running for Environment Canterbury regional council.

 

Joy Fabian

Joy has been a member since 2022. With a career in banking and also volunteering with the local RSA, Joy’s role as SCRA Treasurer is valued.

 Lucas Sampaio

Lucas has been a member since 2021. Lucas co-founded the Goat Shed Surfboard Library project.  Lucas and Tobin shape custom made sustainabile surboards and are involved in a number of Surf Festivals in Sumner and New Brighton. 

Simon Brown

Simon Brown has lived in Sumner since the 1980s and is an avid surfer and kaitiaki of the Ocean and our Esplanade.

 

Emily Quane

I’m a qualified Art & Ceramic Teacher and professional artist based in Sumner. On the committee, I oversee community arts programming, including mural projects, events, and hands-on workshops. I also run an after-school art class for children and manage our community noticeboard at the Sumner Hub—keeping locals connected and creatives engaged

 

Meet our Coordinators and Contractors

Jim Perry

Jim is the Hub Coordinator and the friendly ‘face’ at Sumner Hub. He is happy to help the community with their needs and concerns. He is at the Hub running the Community Van service, Civil Defense projects and Bikery. A passionate outdoorsman, Jim also is also a mentor for youth for the 180 degree Trust.

Alicia Mallo

Alicia works as a contract Project Coordinator at the Hub, where she’s runs the Sustainability, Environmental and Civil Defence projects for SCRA. She assists with the operational management from grant writing, event organisation to project support and works in closely with local schools, council and nonprofits to build a more resilient and vibrant community. Through her business, Ika Moana, she also helps to manage local charities such as the Sumner Ferrymead Foundation, Sumner Bays Union Trust, and the Goat Shed.

 

 

 

 

 

 

Caroline Brunner

Caroline is our creative newsletter writer who also directs the local Matuku Sumner Theatre Group.
