Nigel joined us in November 2025. He brings a wealth of experience in the not-for-profit sector. He currently manages Sumner Bays Union Trust and has 40 year involvement in a variety of sporting clubs throughout the city.

Member since 2021. Co-founded the Goat Shed Surfboard Library project. Lucas and Tobin shape custom sustainable surfboards and are involved in Surf Festivals in Sumner and New Brighton.

Sumner local since the 1980s, avid surfer, and kaitiaki of the ocean and our esplanade.

I’m a qualified Art & Ceramic Teacher and professional artist based in Sumner. I oversee community arts programming—murals, events, workshops—and run an after-school art class. I also manage our community noticeboard at the Sumner Hub.
Kevin joined the committee in November 2025. He is a retired police investigator and a local Sumner resident passionate about keeping Sumner safe.

Hub Coordinator and the friendly face at Sumner Hub. Jim helps with community needs and runs the Community Van service, Civil Defence projects, and the Bikery. A passionate outdoorsman and youth mentor with the 180 Degrees Trust.

Contract Project Coordinator at the Hub across Sustainability, Environmental, and Civil Defence projects. Supports operations from grant writing and events to project delivery—working closely with local schools, council, and nonprofits. Through Ika Moana, also contracts to and/or manages other local charities including the Sumner Ferrymead Foundation, Sumner Bays Union Trust, Fuse, Ferrymead Heritage Park and The Goat Shed.
